Default is the VSS in the 4th gen the same as the 5th gen?

i am having issues with my speedo not working properly after the swap, and am a little curious....the motor is obd1, and so is the ecu, the harness is from a 97 lude, but im using the vss that came with the motor.....the two wires with the banana plugs on them are the vss wires? or are they for the reverse indicator lamps?

TIA

They are not. The 4th gen has power steering lines going to it for the speed sensitive PS but the 5th gens use a different method.

I have discovered, however, that a VSS from a early 90's accord fits perfectly.

i see those power steering lines u are talking about...i have a full 4th gen jdm swap in it......im having intermittent vtec issues as well...so im hoping the vss will fix it...im gonna pull it out first thing and see what the deal is....not to mention its time for a valve adjustment
