how to tell if my v-tec solenoid is work and y my v-tec isn't working
how can i tell if my v-tec solenoid. I was told to run a wire to the solenoid and rev up the motor and tap the other end of the wire to the battery will that make the v-tec kick in if so i did that and it doesn't kick in but i hear the solenoid clicking or do i have to drive it to make it work that way
I also get the msd actrpm switch and ran that with the relay and did the same they by rev up the motor and still nothing or do i have to drive the car to make it kick in

if the solenoid is clicking, its working.
I would try a few things... check your oil level, & your oil pump if its a stock VTEC engine.
Also, remove the VTEC solenoid and clean the screen inside if it's dirty.
If this is a SOHC mini-me VTEC engine, make sure that you removed the oil control jet in the block.

You guys should of atleast answered this one MAIN question first.
Yes, your car WILL NOT enguage vtec when reved in neutral. It must be moving.

he's saying the ECU needs to have a spedo pulse, either VSS electronicly, or witht he speedo cable, and the current from the cluster to the ECU.
(wheels have to turn for VTEC)

Really? Even if you short the solenoid on???? Seems to me if it has oil pressure and the solenoid goes on, VTEC will kick in.

if you short a light bulb, it will go on.
the ECU controlles the VTEC sol.
if you short the sol. on hot, provided they're is oil press. pressent, it should be active.
sol. ran hot.. with oil press, NO VTEC.. could mean clogged screen, or ultimatley, missing VTEC pins inside the individual rocker arms. (last resort) belive me, ive seen it happen.
