are vavle keepers an item that should be replaced if they are old ?

we have never changed the keepers on our race car or street cars.

I say if there is anything you are ordering from Honda you might as well get some new ones. Just remember that they are sold 1 at a time and not in a pair.

I made that mistake and had to order them twice.

If there are very noticeable shiny marks from rubbing then change them.

The shiny marks can be on the valve stem or retainer side.

If they are really shiny that is a sign that your valvetrain suffered alot of valve float/bounce/jitter.

if a keeper were to fall into one of the holes on the head of the engine is there an easy way to get it out, or do you even need to get it out ?

take the oil pan off, the vavle keepers fell into the oil pan

he means that those little holes you speak of lead to the oil pan, thats where they will be sitting. you dont want the to recirculate so you need to get them out
