Default Custom Rear Subframe Pics/prototype

Hey all! I Just would like to share some pictures of a rear subframe brace that a friend of mine fabricates. As most of you people know that with a bigger rear swaybar on a honda civic there are tendencies that part of the Rear sub would tear.

With This brace it distributes force evenly on the subframe under heavy load. Without the brace, load is isolated in one place on the subframe which will eventually give. A must if you want to use bigger rear swaybars.

I am using a Mugen 22 rear sway pictured here.

For more Detailed information on this piece pm civicferio on here or go to http://www.a-spec-racing.com

thanks for reading

Nice, but most of the people in this forum are running high enough rear rates that they dont worry about rear subframe tearout. I have been drawing up ideas for one of those on my car though. . .

It's made of 6061 T-6 aluminum. So far it's only made for the EK and it compatible with the CTR, mugen 22mm and ITR rear bars. There is still no application for the EG yet.

I'd be interested in this if you plan on developing one for the EG.

hondamanwill,

It has been in my car for a few months now and so far my subframe is still holding up. It's also in a few of my friends civic for testing.

I'm now using a 32mm hollow anti roll bar in the back of my civic for accelerated torture test as seen here. The hollow bar will also be available as an upgrade to the 22mm bar and will be less expensive than a mugen 26mm bar.

AmginE

The EG version is currently under development and will be first used in some Honda Challenge cars for testing. Thanks

Regards,
Charleston

As you guys can see my I replaced my subframe.

It will be in the market soon but I need your help. Is the piece too squary? Should I put some design on the center of the piece? Do you prefer it in colors like anodize black, blue or red? Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Charleston

I think it should follow the shape of the subframe, i.e., more round where the LCA's mount. I'm sure most of us care more about the strength, but I know when I pay $$$ for something, I want it to look as good as it works. Does that make sense?

So in the first pics the lower control arm bolt is through the plate. In the later pics its underneath. Is there a longer bolt and spacer on the earlier pics to keep the lower control arm supported correctly or is the extra material and hole near the lca bolt unnecessary as in the later pics?

The later pic with a 32mm anti-roll bar was taken during fitment. Yes, there will be a spacer and a longer bolt on for the LCA on all braces. Good observation stscxr!

I'll try to come up with something more curvy or at least round of the edges. Thank you.

So it is just a brace for one side right? It would look better if it was more rounded off on the edges, maybe a black powder coat or something would look good?
Any idead if it would work with the 24mm Cusco sway?

why did you choose 6061 t6? Its very brittle compared to other al options and tends to crack before it elongates or flexes (hence brittle)
