Default Garrett T3 ~"45" trim

I've looked at compressor maps but I can't calculate the CFM my engine would flow: D16A1 (built). I've been running this turbo at 8psi for a year now on the old block so I have it in my possesion - I'm not shopping for this "45" trim turbo; just curious to see what it will support.

Does anyone know either the CFM to use for my engine or an idea as to whether this turbo will support 250-75whp?

Thanks in advance...

I think that your probably pushing it if your wanting 275whp out of it. I'd say more like 220 hp or so wuld be the limit. Icould be wrong, this is just my oppinion no actuall facts.

Thanks for the reply. I suppose the only real goal for this turbo is the 250whp, anyways.

What turbo are you running on the B?

if you want to support those numbers I would say t3 60 or super 60...i run the 60 trim and im roughly around 250ish on 10psi...Works very well on the D series

Thanks for the reply. I'll start searching for these. The T3 .60 was off of the Thunderbird with the manual tranny, right? The auto had a .42 or so exhaust?

You wouldn't happen to know of any for sale, would you?

Good choice, I have a friend on a B18 running 300whp on that turbo.

Almost certain it was a B18b. Not sure on the psi but he put down 298whp on a Mustang dyno with stock bottom end.

He just got the block back from a little buildup and will be shooting for the big 400whp this Spring. If I remember I'll tell you what turbo he's going to run for that (or if the current T3/T4 breathes up there).

Well you can buy them from any turbo dealer its an off the shelf turbo...it can come with .48, .63 or .82 turbine housing....I run the 60 trim with a .48 turbine...spools at like 3300 and full boost by like 4000ish, im gonna upgrade to the .63 housing this summer when i get some more parts to go for the 300 hp goal, but im def. happy with the power im making and the car pulls so strong to redline and beyond, when i shift I still feel there is more power left to be had....

http://www.slowboyracing.com
http://www.turbonetics.com
and any other garrett turbo dealer can get them.....

I run a 50 trim t3 with .63 turbine and .42 comp. starts spooling at about 3000 8psi by 4000.

This one spools a little quicker. It puts out about 8psi by 3500rpm.

Any idea as to what these top out at?

Here's a link to the compressor map.

http://www.turbocalculator.com...5.jpg

It flows its maximum at a boost pressure of 19.11 psi, if I did my math right (2.3pr)...

So what i'm saying is, if you want to know what the most that turbo can do is, you will need to turn it up to 20psi, for that's the boost level where it gives 'all it's got.'

With a good intercooler, you might be able to squeeze a bit more out of it, but that's getting towards it's limits. 65% efficiency is still better than a supercharger, so turn it up and get on the dyno

I personally (think) I have a 50 trim, and i'm about to do the same once uberdata is up and running for me. My 50 trim can move a bit more at the same (maximum) pressure (~20psi).

Give it a shot!
Good luck.

the thinderbirds came with a .48 a/r exhaust side and .60 a/r compressor, with a 60 trim wheel. these can be had on ebay from time to time (i got mine refurbished for $300, with a wastegate). t3's with a .48 exhaust and .42 compressor are on ebay ALL the time. i think these also came on the thunderbird (maybe this is the automatic turbo?)

I've looked at the maps but I can't figure out the x-axis because I don't know what CFM to use for my engine.

I'll just see what the thing can do on the dyno when the new block is in. It should be interesting, if nothing else!

I think those are usually Volvo or Saab turbos.
