Default ECU chip burning question.

My friend has everything to burn chips with boost options. Just wondering if i can use an old GUDE computer i have(which is already socketed and chipped) and burn over the GUDE program? If not, the ECU and socket should be good right, if anything i might just need a new chip?

Not sure. They just have a piece of tape over the top of it. Look like and optic they are covering or something. That how they burn it in?

That's the erase port (normally why it's covered), it allows you to erase the EPROM under a certain frequency of light which differs from an EEPROM as it can be written over electronically... As for your question, it will work but with a new chip... Unless you have a light source capable of erasing your current chip... New 27256 ROMs (or the like) are only like $5.00 or less tho... Hope this helps

Just get some new chips.... easy.

goto digi-key.com

look for 29C256 (flash part) (this is re-burnable)
or 27C256 (One time program) (not too useful)

28pin DIP
