Engine light
I have a 90 civic lx 1.5ltr and my engine light came on when is was on the highway. When I got home I shut the car off and restarted it. Light was off.
So, I did a search on this site and came up with and excellent link from pissedoffsol. I looked at the flashing light in the computer window and it was 11. Read on and it says this is normal. My question is why did it come on and show no codes? Do I have to look at the little window when the light is on? Anything I am missing?
Thanks

not too sure, but the same things happened to me the other night. It was freezing outside and I had just pulled onto the highway with a cold engine. Light popped and when I restarted the car, it disappeared. Didn't check codes...didn't notice nay difference in performance.
Cliff notes: I dunno....bump for an explanation

This is happening to me also. I would drive through stop and go traffic and nothing. It only happens when I am going at a steady pace. When I shut off the car and restart the engine light is gone untill I go at a steady pace again. Is this normal?
When I went an read my codes it was an 11. After I shut it off and restarted. I haven't had to drive it on the highway yet so I don't know if the light will come on again or what.
It looks like a few people have the same issues. Hopefully we can figure this one out.

Most likely the code you are seeing is code #1 oxygen content..
Especially if it resets when the car is turned off..
Most likely the o2 sensor is at fault or it is running too rich..

i have the same motor...but i think it might be bad wirings. i have a 89 a6 in my 88 crx si...when i got it the check engine light comes on like 2-3 min after driving, stays on until i turn car off and turn it bak on ...2-3 min turns on again...i found it wierd because when i bought dc headers the o2 senser is located on the bottom of the motor and my o2 wont reach because the wiring was too short. so i cut the wire and jus screw the 02 on..but the engine light STILLS go on..the ecu read 7 or some?? but it was the VSS signal..but my speedometer still works...
Well I drove the civic about 150 miles today and no light. The ecu is still flashing. I will disconnect the battery and reset every thing.
Came out from work to find a flat tire.
