Default how long for piston rings to fully seat?

hey guys

I just put in a newly rebuilt DOHC JDM ZC in my '91 Civic Si, and I was
wondering how long it takes for the piston rings to seat; the rings are
Hastings, if that makes a difference. I was figuring about 300 miles for
the rings to seat, and another 600 until I can consider the engine fully
broken in. Anybody have some more authoritave advice?

thanks

Rings usually seat in the first 20 miles of driving. If your ring don't seat in this time, they probably never will.

I believe after this time, its best to change the oil out? And what oil should be used for the seating process?

They are fully seated at 50 milesl.....Or that is what I was told by an experienced Race engine builder.

Use regular 30W motor oil for the break in period........I was easy for about 500 miles then I revved to my redline off and on for the next day or so. Then I drove normal after that like I always do. I even ran at the track. After 1500 miles I changed to synthetic and car is still strong as ever 2000 miles in.

Good Luck!!!!!!!
