I was just wondering if anyone has any pics of intercoolers under the hood... i'm trying to get some ideas.....
What do you mean by air to air intercooler under the hood?....Usually you buy either a side, front, or top mount intercooler....you need to be able to pull fresh air into the intercooler, which is why they go either in the front, the side or on top if you have a hood scoop to provide a steady flow of fresh air...If you mount an intercooler under the hood in the engine bay you might as well go without one because it will heat soak and defeats the purpose of the air to air intercooler......but still with your question I dont know if you have no idea what your talking about and are just confused or you just dont understand how an air to air works and why it wouldnt work "under the hood".....
i have a DSM side mount, right where the battery goes on a CRX, i'm sure its not doing much, i plan on putting a fan behind it and cutting some kinda hood scoop, nothing drastic
buddy of mine had a DSM SMIC in his g2 integra where the battery goes...said it wasn't that efficient...if anything use the DSM SMIC and fender mount it, thats my new plan

what do you mean fender mount it? And I was wanting to put an intercooler in the same place as the one in the pic. and get a scoop that will make the air go directly to it....
your talking about a top mount like the WRX's and Bluebird/GTiR motors have, don't know anyone that did that with a honda i have seen water to air intercoolers under the hood though

if you do a search you'll find plety of guys that have used SMICs(names the 1g Eclipse one) and mounted them in the fender where the intake resonator usually is mounted

On the wrx forums anyone going for over 300 awhp normally upgrades to a fmic. All the wrx tmic's mount to the stock location. The sti and upgraded tmic's are an couple of inches wider, but the stock wrx mounts have an additional set of holes to accomadate those tmic's.
I saw pics of one sti rally car with a fmic that was mounted under the hood. Very short piping it stood very high in front of the engine. It had an additional hood scoop closer to the front for it.
