my car wont go into reverse what should i do buy a new itr tranny or rebuild my b16 tranny, what causes this problem and how much do itr tranny run for.
reverse is the only one you're having problems with? It's probably a synchro or the proportioning gear or something along those lines. Reverse always seems to be a little finiky on Hondas, so you're sure it's dead? And you don't have to get an ITR tranny for those gear ratios... look around and I'm sure you'll find one (maybe even w/ a lsd) with similar/ better ratios than the ITR.

reverse doesn't have a synchro...it's a straight cut gear off on it's own.....the reverse idler arm could have gotten bent possibly.

This is because there is a lock on reverse so that way when your going down the highway, you don't accidently throw your car into reverse thinking the car is a six speed.
If you go in first, let up on the clutch, put the clutch back in, if it's a normal tranny, it should slide right in.

Sometimes with my old EX it wouldn't let me in until I let out the clutch more or until I put it into first before.
Try some of these before you waste money on a newer transmission.

I had the same problem. Does your tranny grind any gears when you shift normal?
I had a broken shift fork stuck into the reverse gear. I thought my syncros were crap when in fact my shift fork were broken. Took tranny apart pulled out the crzap and booooom!! Hooked it up!!

Could be something simple...check your fluids, I know mine was low last week and it wouldn't go in any of the gears...pumped the old tranny fluid out and put some new fluid in...runs great now.
Worth a shot...may as well check it out.

This should be h-t's motto or something! If people would just look at the easy stuff first there'd be a whole lot less expensive problems running around and people would figure stuff out way faster!

and we are a bunch of poor people and sometimes stoopid. AS replaced my alternator twice in 3 months costing me 800 dollars when actually there's just some short circuit ($1.) and blown fuse ($3.) . damn mechanics (not all)..honda-tech is always a good place for second opinion. always do simple check first.
