Default spark plug *yikes*

i posted this in the tech forum but no one wanted to answer so i thought i'll post here....
look what happens to your plugs when you have unseated piston rings and you have blowby.....

yes that is oil left by the plug

glad i decided to change them today

can anyone recommend a 1 step colder plug down from denzo iridium ik20's? or will these plugs be cold enough (stock b16 head/gsr block w/p73 overbore pistons, 11.4-11-6 compression)

thad red stuff on them is from the additives in some gasoline. Some octane boosters on the market use it.just cleen the plugs off,its not harmful.Id doesnt look like its burning oil .You can try the ik22's.i believe there 5310.

yeah i use to have some problems like that when i was spraying. If the plug was still useable and i didnt blow the tip off of it aswell i just cleanded it with some 1500 grit sand paper, and then double checked my gapping.

i had the same problem recently...i had 108 octane and one of my plugs actually looked like that as well. i at first thought it was water, but was told it came from the race gas. no way water would have gotten down into the spark plug hole.

Trust me someone has been using to much octane booster...

that is definitely NOT due to unseated piston rings.... i checked my plugs after my engine break-in and they looked just fine,.

I just checekd my plugs today and they have that color on them...

I guess I will not be using anymore octane booster or my own homemade octane booster brew with toulene and Xylene....

I just used straight Xylene, which is almost Toulene, and basically measured it according to a rough mix given to me from a friend. I used about 16 oz of pure xylene to 10 gallons of gas and I did notice a difference.... it may just be me, but I also noticed a jump in gas mileage from about 24 to 26 MPG to about 28 MPG over a weeks worth of daily driving to and from work.

I really need to find out how to make the good stuff!!!

Hey I live in San Diego too!!!

Xylene-118 octane
CA gas-91 octane

Adding 16 oz (1/8 of gallon) of 118 will not even get you 92 octane. You will probably only gain 3-5 points (91.3-91.5).

Now, If you dumped a gallon of Xylene in:
118 * 1 gallon = 118
91 * 10 gallon = 910

910 + 118 = 1028

1028 / 11 gallons = 93.45 octane

Holy crap, thank you for that breakdown..I thought maybe it went up a point or so, but it looks like it only went up to about 91.3 or 91.5....

So a gallon huh? I think i have a gallon or 2 still in my garage from last year...Hmmm..maybe....

I wonder if my O2 sensor will like that much Xylene?
