stock retainers, are they good for high rpm
i have heard bad things about ti retainers and good things alike
i was wondering if i could use my stock retainers on a head that will see 8500rpm
i will be using crower springs and crower 404's but i was just curious if hte LS retainers are strong enough to with hold this stress

I dont know, but I can tell you that titanium retainers are a wear item. That means that after so many miles, the edges of the retainers will wear thin. Over time, this equals bad news. If you do decide to run titanium, or if there is no other choice (I would personally check the differences of VTEC and Non VTEC retainers if there is any) you can send them out and get them treated to double thier strength to prevent wear of any sort. Thats what I did. If there is no difference between the different retianers, then just run the stock ones, it will save you some worry.
they should be fine.
the only issues seem to be with the VTEC head/retainers. most machine shops and engine builders will tell you there is less wear with ti-retainers on the non-VTEC head. so if you can get a set of ti-retainers for cheap then go for it.

LS retainers I would think 8500 rpms is kind of pushing it. If it was a Vtec head, then I would say you should be alright. I would just get some titanium retainers. Just my opinion.
