Default CEL with VAFC install and raised VTEC crossover...

Got a CEL 22(VTEC Solenoid) after raising the VTEC crossover from 4400 to 4900 in my OBD II eqipped GSR. Anyone else experience this? It seems to be intermitent too. Damn.

Did you connect the VTM wire?

Steven, no I did not connect the VTM wire. I'm assuming this may fix my problem. I didn't know the ECU was VTM equipped. Damn. Just after I put all of those wires back into the black harness.....
Thanks for the input

VTM = vtec oil pressure switch.
ALL usdm cars have it.

Middle pin, blue wire with white stripe.

Cut it, tape off the engine side, connect the ECU side to the VTM wire from the V-AFC, reset your ECU, and your good to go.

Actually, you will want to connect both sides of this wire to your vafc... one is what vafc will recognize as vti or (vtec input from ecu) and the other is vto (vtec output from vafc). It will work as described above, but you can get info for the vti from your vafc if you connect the other wire... (diagnostic stuff, etc) and monitor with the vafc if you know what you're doing...

No .......

If you connect both to the VTM wire, you will end up with an intermittent CEL light, and I have helped people get rid of it by taking off the engine side ....

The instructions say that, not me ....

And the VTI and VTO work without doing that. The VTO actually is the signal from the V-AFC telling when to switch it over. The VTI is the signal that the computer is sending out (through the VTM wire) that the V-AFC intercepts.

If you do it the way I said (Apex-i's directions), you will be able to monitor the VTI and VTO on the V-AFC display as advertised.

VTI and VTM are not the same.
VTI is the vtec activation signal
VTM is the oil pressure switch signal to the ecu

TypeR0207, I'll check later when I get a chance. You may be right about the wires...

For my itr, I used kenji's wiring harness so that may be confusing me...

So, I'm off a little.

But not by much .....

The VTM (oil pressure switch) gets routed through the V-AFC, and is then controlled by the unit. If you have both wires connected, then sometimes you will get an errant signal that makes it through, and you will not get the VTEC crossover, and often will bog down over the x-over. Basically the same reacion as not having it hooked up at all.

vtec solenoid wire is connected to both sides of the ecu (green yellow wire)
vtm wire is blue
cut vtm wire to motor splice on ecu side
