Does anyone have any experience with this gauge from AEM? how acurrate is it? Worth the buy?

 

Worth the money. NuImage tunes all turbo cars with the UEGO.

 

worth every penny.....and i don't believe it's really that expensive at all for what it does. GREAT Investment for monitoring your engine.....throw the EGT out and get yourself this and just a boost gauge.......and possibly a fuel pressure gauge and your monitor will complete for a street car in my opinion

 

With this you can leave it permanently hooked up to a 2nd bung on the downpipe, for how long will it last on pump gas?

i believe the average lifespan on pump gas is 40,000km. its listed in the instructions that come w/the unit.

I have the AEM WB and I love it...I'll be using that to tune my car with the Uberdata.

 

The gauge type is much better than the older non gauge type. The gauge type has all digital components and is not as sensative to where it gets power and ground from.

Both are accurate to within .1 AFR. The gauge type does not have as broad of a sensativity range as the older style (it cannot read richer than 10:1 AFR).

 

does the AEM gauge type have the ability to datalog to a laptop?

it cant read richer than 11-1

 

hah even shiter than i remember.
Im not sure if you can log it without an AEM EMS however.

Correct me if I am wrong but I think the aem is able to log afr's to a lap top...however without having any other paramaters to compare with this is basically useless???

 

the logging thing is pretty useless... all you can do is afr...

 

I use it and love it. I used to have the old style and sold it for this one.
The gauge will read from 11:1 up to 17:1 which really helps for tuning since you dont really use much else. There is a pot in the back of the gauge if you would like it to display in lambda also.
AEM even took another step forward with the design, a feature that i think is awesome. In the center of the gauge face is a light sensitive diode which will automatically dim the brightness of the readout. If anyone has even seen the FJO new gauge display they will know that they are waaaay too bright.
Overall a very good value for a wbo2. Also the LSU4 sensor is cheaper than the L1H1 and more readily available.

 

Is it alright to cut the sensor wires so I can get it through all my tight spaces and then resolder it?? Cause if I mount it on my gauge assembly area its way to tight, then again I could get it on my pillar if I moved my gauges around but it would still have to go through the firewall.

 

i did and mine reads fine.

 

Can you hook up the hotwires and leave the sensor not connected? Also the hotwire goes to a 12v ignition or 12v constant? I got a autometer air/fuel hooked up now, I tink its hooked to the ignition

You don't need an AEM EMS to have an AEM Gauge-Type Wideband UEGO right?

 

no you dont need a ems, im debating where I should cut, I think it would be wisest to by the gauge and run it from the engine bay to the gauges. That way if I ever have to disconnect I know where I tapped it together at

 

I wouldnt cut the harness. In my civic there is a big grommet under the battery. I think the teg's may have one there too. You need to remove the clip on the plug, but you can get it through that hole. The hole is behind the heater box on the inside of the car.

 

I cut mines close to the gauge, but I solder and shrink wrap it like its all new again.
Btw its alright to have everythin connected but not have the sensor hooked up?

 

Personally, I'd rather go with a TechEdge kit. In fact, I did. It is cheaper. More features. Onboard datalogging (3 0-5V inputs, 1 RPM input, and 3 thermocouple inputs). User definable outputs, etc...

Plus it was the first affordable wideband unit out there.
