JGLuder, i see you recomend the crower, can you tell me the advantage of these over the Type S??
I'm the guy getting the cams...
I'm most likely going with crower, but i just wanted to see if you had an additional information i may not know about.
thanks

if i remember correctly, Crower H22 cams were "replicas" of the Type-S cams...

Crower is much better. Type-S will cost the same if not more than Crower and won't make as much power. So therefore Type-S cams aren't that great a "value" imo. Also theres the talk of compatibility problems with USDM H22A's rocker arms and the S cams...the cams create abnormal wear supposedly.

I was thinking bout the same thing. the type s cams you cn notice the pull higher up on the rpms. The crower stage two you can feel if all through out. Normally when ya switch em to type s cams ya gotta up the valve train cause they lift kinda high. I dunno about the crower tryn to relicate the type s ones tho??

I've looked around and found that even with the stage 2 crower it recommends the titanium upgrade (which i have) and a vtec controller (which i also have).
I've ordered the crower's, thanks for the info.........i seem to remember hearing about the type-s incompatability with our h22a's as well.
thanks again

could anyone give me an idea of the power i should see from these cams? I have my mod's listed down below, without specific knowledge of these items, should i see at least the advertised 15-18hp? or should i see more?
If there is anyone out there that has the Crower Stage 2 (street/strip) camshafts please share what you think of them.
If there is big / noticible difference in power?
thanks

Sorry about your IM. I thought you were the guy that started the post....

If no one here has the Stage 2, then I'd check out http://www.hondaprelude.com and ask.

Oh, and for the open record, check the sig for my cams.

Depends on how you tune them. I'm sure you could get 15-18 hp (or more) up top if you're willing to sacrifice a lot of low-end.

But as you probably know, peak numbers aren't the best picture of how fast a car is. Maintaining the area under the curve is important, as well as putting the power where you're going to need it.

BTW, at the point where you are in mods, you'll be stretching the limits of your stock fuel maps. I bet you could see a decent amount of power by going with some good fuel management (aka Hondata). A stage 2 & some dyno tuning wouldn't be all that expensive, and probably worth it. And since you'll be dynoing for the cams anyway, a basic hondata setup will only be like $260.

Of course, you'll have to deal with an OBDI conversion, and losing ATTS. So maybe it's not worth it.

the type "s" camshaft just cause there JDM are laser etched differenly then the american crower stage 2. the type "s" of course which you already have done , you need to upgrade your internal such as valve springs and retainers. my friend actually have a type "s" cam shaft in his 5th generation prelude and the only real difference that you could feel on a dyno is the mid to high end power. as for 15-18 hp? well i think he only averaged bout 10-12 give or take , but you do feel a little better pull on the stage 2 crower cause they way it was etched turned your camshaft lobes to work more agressive in vtec and mid range ~

hey i'm kind of new to this board. well i got some info on the crowers and the type S cams that i thought maybe i could share it with you guys.
one of my friend has the crower stage 3 cams on the h22a it made about 15 HP, thats with the crower valve train. and some guy long long long time ago he had the type S cams, and it only mad about 8 HP. so for the money i would 100% go with the crower cams.
BUT...... why not wait for the JUN3s? the JUN3s made so much HP on the B series motors, and for prelude motors it should make way more than the B series.
