Default Ran 16 psi in (mostly) stock gsr motor & Fmax kit

yeah, so I do have a lower compression head gasket, but I just wanted to see how much boost I could push before the J&S started pulling time, and 16 psi was the limit. This was on an Fmax kit.

Also, when re-doing all the vacuum lines, the guy working on my car noticed that they were all hooked up through the secondary butterflys. It was a dog, now it's got more than I can really handle.

I don't plan on running more than like 10 psi on the street, just for those of you who think I'm a total retard for even attempting that much on a mostly stock motor.

Hell, I don't even know why I'm typing all of this. Its early (9 am) and I haven't had my cheerios or my whisky yet.

Can you explain this comment in detail. I want to make sure mine isn't hooked up like that.

Lucas569 - It felt great to be able to spin the tires all the way through 2nd, then all the way through 3rd gear. Uh . . . torque steer sucks - time to get a RWD car to build. j/k

9psiLsT - yes, 9:1 CR on 92 octane pump gas

dragonsmp - I wish I could, but I'm not as mechanically inclined as my friend who is my new mech. guru! It all seemed very cryptic to me when he tried to explain it to me, and I'm afraid it would sound alot worse coming from me. I can ask, though and see if he can explain it so I get it, and I'll relay it back to ya.

time to try water injection maybe....then maybe you can run 16psi all the time, and 18psi at the strips...

anyways...don't forget the iC pics...dammit!!

did you pull base timing back? Where's your sensitivity set at on the J&S? Stock sensor?

I am on my 3rd engine also.... Its amazing how much boost a honda motor will hold before it blows. My d16z6 saw 15-16psi and it was internally stock on 104 octane. Daily boost was 12-13psi.

I a custom turbo kit, but with f-max piping, intercooler, and erl mf2 fuel computer.

The erl mf2 is an awesome computer.

3rd motor huh, what happened? how long did one or any last without having user error? stock timing? t3/t4? 1/4 times? All motors using MF2?

I've got the J&S set up to start retarding at 4 psi, then .5 degrees per pound of boost. It wasn't pulling any additional time, though.

Al,

You're just trying to blow it to give yourself an excuse to build it.

There was never user error. My first motor, which was built, suffered bad piston damage when i blew a vacuum line to the erl mf2 when i was boosting about 16psi. The 2nd motor spun a rod bearing because it had 145,000 miles. And now i am building another motor to replace the one with the spun bearing.

I never got to run my built block at the track, but at 18psi it was very very fast. I wish i could have got to run it before the damn vacuum line broke.

My fastest time to date was a 13.6 @ 105 with an internally stock d16z6 (the one that spun the bearing) with 15psi boost, stock timing, and 104 octane gas. I should note this was at 5400 feet above sea level in colorado and on street tires.

And yes..all motors with the mf2.
