I'd run it at or lower than 8...no reason to blow the motor on a show car.

It depends on what engine you are using. If you are running a B-series engine I think you could get away with 12-15 psi on stock internals IF, and it is a Big IF, you stay out detonation. So great tuning is a must. Also you should not exceed the stock redline. If the connecting rods have a stiff enough beam, as I believe B-series rod do, Turbocharging is not any harder on the rod than an NA engine at the same engine speeds. The stress on the rod increases more with engine speed than it does with higher cylinder pressures. Pistons, rings, and bearings are most sensitive to detonation.

If you are running a D16 engine I would not exceed 8 psi or the stock redline. The beams of the stock D16 rods are not stiff enough and do not tolerate higher boost pressures. I have seen two different engines have rod failures in the beam of the rod at higer than 8 psi boost pressures. I think the rod yields in bending, develops a crack, and fails in very few cycles.

Even if you did not want to go to the trouble of sleeving the block, good aftermarket market rods and pistons are cheap insurance. Having the confidence that you are not going to have an expensive catastrophic engine failure if you lean on your engine when you are tempted will make your car much more fun. I will not even build a non-stock engine of any kind with stock recipricating components

6psi 30 days. 8psi 30 days. 10psi 30 days. 8500 boosted miles. 10.5-11.0 afr...never heard any detonation.

i ran 12psi on a stock d16y8. 12:1 FMU and stock injectors and a 255 lph fuel pump, i dont want to hear about bending rods, the only thing u have to worry about is headgaskets blowing(too much pressure) and rod bearings. it ran fine, til i turned it up to 14psi and raced a Vortec Supercharged GSR (10psi) (278hp /wheels) and blew it up during a 3rd gear pull

A friend of mine is running 17lbs. on a stock B18C1. But he also has (pressure washers) for injectors. But your point is very well put. The higher the boost, the faster detonation will kill the motor. TUNING IS THE KEY!!!

we ran 20 psi on a stock LS engine for over a year. The engine is still running.

any ideas for the f23? I was thinking on sticking with 8psi, but would like to run more if possible.

I aggree...we ran 22psi on stock internals for the entire summer last year on a gsr...all we did was the fuel...hondata s200b, holley 255lph intake, 345cc prelude injectors, 12:1 vortech fmu, competition fuel rail and just a block guard...we never detonated...hahaha...after that we parked the baby to work on a sr20 then we will rebuild the ls for higher boost...so yes you can go really high on boost at stock internals with proper tunning...just be careful and listen for detonation. yuo can check http://www.inlinepro.com they have a stock gsr with a block guard doing 550+whp

is that a joke?

you trailer a car that only runs 8 psi?
You don't race it, yet you build it?

Why?

The highest i've run was 10 and that was an accident i am afraid to go much over 8 on stock internals with and fmu holley 255 rc 310 setup.

15psi on a B16 for 20 minutes.
20psi on a B20 for a 3rd gear pull.
