Default pitson noise when motor is cold?

i havce have heard that JE pistons mainly do this. amd since i have JE they are diong it lol. when i start my car in the mornings i can hear noise from teh pistons and it goes away after they warm up. i have heard that this is normal due tp the fact that forged pistons contract when cold and expand when they heat up. my question is... is this bad?? does it cause any excessive wear on the cylinder walls or the pistons them selves?

Not sure if it will cause excessive wear. I would think as long as your motor was built close to spec you should be okay. But my JE pistons did the same thing. They were loud as hell when I would start the car up then go away when the motor got warmed.

pistons expand and contract differently...not just the JE. it is the silicon content of the pistons that affects this.

more silicon content, less expansion from what I understand. and obviously visa versa.

STOP!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Don't start it up again IT WILL BLOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!........................... ................. ERRR J/K Forged pistons with very low silicon content or zero silicon have piston slap due to the expansion rates of the metals, except SRP pistons which are high in silicon content and believe they are supposed to be pretty quiet just not as strong as a Regualre JE, Arias, Wiseco, CP, Ross etc etc . I have JE pistons now and they are louder than my 3 sets of Endyn/Wiseco pistons I have had in the past.
