Default Subs on stock HU?

I just bought a car today, a 96 integra ls, and it comes with the factory cd player. I already have subs that i am going to be putting in so my question is, how would i hook up the subs to the stock HU? Or do i need to get an aftermarket one?

All you need to buy is a line out converter from a local stereo shop.

Unless your amp has high level inputs, then you can use those.

Your amp needs to have some feature called "speaker level input" or "high level input." If so, go to your local audio store and buy a convertor. You're gonna need to splice some wires to make everything work.

I use a stock HU with my bass setup and it works fine, but it could be better.

So for the best sound it would be better to get an aftermarket HU?

But if you want it stockgo with the line level inputs.

not sure, look at the advice above and they were telling you what to look for. should be a series of pins for an adapter that came with the amp.

I'm not 100% sure, but I don't think this amp has them.

Do yourself a favor, d00d, buy a nice aftermarket deck and be done with it.

No, you need RCA outputs ....

usually the 80$ just look/preform a little better then stock.

those converters are junk... sorry to say but for use with subs they are junk... i had one hooked up to an l7 solobaric and 600w amp, and the bass was there, but it wasnt exact, and sounded sloppy and distorted. ended up blowing the sub in about a month of playing it.

Most LOC's are junk. There are some out there (Navone LOC's the RF 3Sixty.1's and .2's, the new AudioControl units, etc) are great. The RF and Audiocontrol units are much more than just an LOC, as they have EQ, time alignment, and crossover slope and frequency adjustment. The Navone unit is the best "standard" LOC I've ever used. I used it in a BMW 325i and had fantastic results.

For sub bass just about any "LOC" will work, the better the "LOC" is, the better the SQ will be.
A processing unit, like a JL Audio Clean Sweep... http://mobile.jlaudio.com/prod...id=94 IMO one of the best out there, is going to cost you as much as a pretty good HU, and unless there is a real compelling reason to keep the stock HU, replace it with an aftermarket HU, but be prepared to spend around $150 - $200 for a HU from an authorized dealer to get something that is a step up from the stock HU

Otherwise $20 will get you one that will do the job just fine... http://www.scosche.com/product...D/994

Hint, install the LOC by the HU and run RCAs and a control lead to the amp, that way if you decide to get an aftermarket HU all you need to do is swap out the HUs. 94
