Default B21/B20 block with B18C5 head...

Hey, I roll in a 90 Civic HB and I'm looking for an engine swap... I'm not going with the ever so popular b16, it's over used and while it's a good engine... I'm looking for something better. I have been looking into the b20's and have been mulling over the idea of putting a Vtech head on em. I like the B21 cuz of the torque numbers and it's low stock compression (think if I bump that up a bit), and that it displaces the most out of all the B series engines. I'm pretty sure that I'll go with the B18C5 head, but I'm not set yet. I've thought about the B17 or the B18C1 head as well. I'm looking for any ideas, thoughts, or suggestions. I am going all motor with this engine because of prolonged engine life... and I a lot more respect for all motor engines. Let me know! Thanks, Ahknodd

Thanks... I actually learned that the B20s and B21s out of the late 80s early 90s preludes aren't the same as the b20s in the CRVs and I can't put the B series heads off of an Integra on em. So basically those Bs are all by themselves. The CRV and Integra B engines work together and you basically can change anything you to between them. Like Trannies, heads, blocks, vtech and on and on... so yeah thanks for your posts. Oh and I've decided to go with the B20b out of a 97 CRV and use the B18C5 head off the Type R Integy. Man lots of displacement and good torque numbers. Oh and my mechanic said i could use the oversized pistons out of the B16....mmmm oh the possibilities. Yeah well thanks again. Later, ahknodd

no, the VTEC head CAN supposedly be put on the B21/B20A bottom end. It's been done at least once that I've seen on a prelude forum.

The B20A/B21 have a closed deck and a tall deck height. Other than that, they've got a long stroke and big journals... the rods and pistons are basically ****, though, brotha.

throw 'em in the gutta. and go buy anotha.

Yes. They also won't bolt into your ED/EF with a Hasport kit (or any other kit, for that matter!). If you are going to cut and weld, at least make at that work worth the effort by swapping in something good like an H-motor.
