Am I driving Hard?
I have 94 Ex with 159k miles on it.
I guess i can admit i may speed or drive a lil faster or harder, but i dont redline, atleast not a lot.
But I want to know whats a good rpm range to shift gears in. cause i actually took the time to look at what range i shift every gear in and it s anywhere from 3700 to 4500rpms, sometimes more in first gear. Am I hurting the engine or do i need to shift at like 3k rpms?
Let me know, i dont want to kill my engine.
Thanks.

i usually shift at 3500-4500.....i did hit 7000 once w/o hitting the fuel cutoff....wonder where itll kick on....for daily driving i usually shift b4 vtec kicks in
The question is really: can i afford to replace the engine if it hand-grenades?
It's kinda like that saying: "The candle that burns twice as bright burns half as long."

whats fuel cutoff?</TD></TR></TABLE>
It's when you hit a certain RPM the ECU cuts off the fuel so that the motor can't rev any higher. On the first topic, just shift when you feel comfortable. Different cars shift at different RPM's. My jeep I shift at 3K RPM's, but on my motorcycle, if I'm normally riding, I usually between 4-5K RPM's.
