Default Filtering bass from speakers???

My friend just got the chance to listen to my sound system today. He said it sounded pretty nice, but it would sound a lot better if I were to get rid of the bass for the speakers, and my only bass would be what my two 12" subs are making.

I think I can change that with my HU. But I'm not sure what that feature would be called.

Can any of you guys shine some light on this topic? Thanks.

if it has a built in crossover, the set the highpass filter on the front and back speakers and the low pass filter on the sub output...

Yeah, it definitely has that feature.

HPF had choices of Off, 50, 80, and 120.

yes sir!

I'm using my el cheapo stock speaker for midbass and the Vifa PLs for midrange. My image dynamic cd2comp horns should be coming soon.

Your other option is to get some "bass blockers" (IE> Passive cross-overs, also known as capacitors). Stereo shops sell them for like $15 a pair... IIRC the values you want are either 99 uF for 200 hz and below blocked to 4 ohm speakers, or 199 uF which do 400 and below (I might have those switched). You can pick them up at radio shack for around 99 cents a peice.

The pioneer heads usually have great crossovers, but if you want like complete lack of bass form the speakers you can buy these resister type things that you just put inline with the speaker wires. Those work best but they are usually like 5$ a piece at best buy . good luck
