Looking to purchase my first helmet.
I'm making a trip to Talledega in March and I've planned to invest in a decent helmet. I also autocross every now and again so the helmet must be good for both. I've sampled the G-force pro force one and do not like the material that lined the inside. I would love to hear about your experiences with different helmet brands and types (closed/open-face) to help me make a decision. TY.

I bought a Bell M2 Pro helmet there, and its very nice.

I also got a Bell Mag-4 as my first helmet. It's Snell SA-approved for around $200. The Bell SR Pro is also a good value for a Snell SA-approved helmet if you want something closed-faced.
I'd only consider closed face helmets. If you really need to use the helmet then allowing me to chew on the steering wheel isn't a feature I need my helmet to have
I have a simpson super voyager and I really like it. Got it from Victor last year.

Bell is what I stand by. I use to run with the Arai GP-5 but the helmet sits way to high on my head and lifts up in formula cars and karts. If i were you, I'd get the Bell Vortex. It is up there in price but, its really nice and i haven't had any complaint about it.
When I bought my current helmet, I tried measuring my head and having it shipped from my local store (~an hour away), only to find that it was extremely uncomfortable. I then went there to try on several more before I found one that was comfortable. So that is something to consider. If you have a store in your area where you can try helmets on, you may want to buy one there.
Right now you will want to get a helmet rated SA2000...
I stopped by Barnetts Performance (local Atlanta shop) to try on some helmets because I have a relatively small head. They only carried G-force which I felt was pretty cheap in quality. Does anyone know of a better performance shop around the Southeast area?
OGRacing is blowing out their XL and XXL Bieffe F1-GPVs for $399, which is a steal, considering they were $600 new. I might even replace my Bell M2 w/ it, because its not the lightest of all helmets...
Small, Large, and XL Bieffe Predators are available for $283 a piece...

I've done some research and I've settled on the Simpson Voyager. They have a limited edition one available right now, but I'm just going with the regular one. It's around $300 and a friend of mine who rolled his car is still around because of his.
