Default JDM DISTRIBUTOR/ BATTERY QUESTION

can i throw a JDM distributor on my 91 accord. found one on ebay for $150.

and i kept trying to crank my car and now it doesnt even crank. i think the battery is too low. the mechanic told me i need a new distributor and tried to charge me $800 , could my car be not starting simply because of the battery? the alarm works as does the radio and all the electrical stuff. how can i tell if i really need a new distributor without buying one and testing it out

i'd try swapping a known good battery from a friends car into yours.

Then you'll know, for free, that it's not the battery.
