The recoil on my driverside seat belt sucks! Can anyone tell me if it's repairable, or do I need to get a new one???????????

Supposebly,The seatbelts are warrantied for the useful life of the vehicle..

If you take it to a dealer,they are supposed to fix it for free
as long as the malfunction is not a product of alteration/abuse or neglect..

If you still have the "warranties" booklet that came with the owners manual
of your car,This is clearly stated within it..

I have heard of dealers not wanting to honor this which in that case the owners contacted
American Honda Motors directly before anything was done for them..

Honda will replace bad belts for free, I have done it before.

just got mine replaced.
but they wont replace the rear seat belt (it wont recoil too)

 

yeah as said above there is a technical service bulletin on those seat belts and it has a way to clean them so they will recoil.....i dont know about the dealership thing but seems like its true considering those are a safety device

 

Take it to another dealer if they don't fix it.

 

Thanks for the info, I just got done with repairing the recoil, the only thing that was holding it up was 15 years of grit and grime..... nothing mechanical..
Some spray degreaser and a Q-tip fixed it up real well..........
