Default knockin? need ur guys opinion

needed some help with my knock sensor trouble shooting....
got a 95 b18c1 in my 94 si hb
wired up the knock sensor from the tower harness on the passenger side to the ecu and resetted the ecu but im still throwing the 23 code
there is no knock that you can hear although the car could still be knocking..........runs pretty helathy but on cold start up the car idles rough sometimes idle will drop from 2 grand to like 1 grand but then will jump right back up to 2 like nothing happened, im assuming i need to clean the screen on the iac valve. but neways the 23 code is still poping up what else can i do to trouble shoot if the sensor or if the mtoor is actually knocking?

the knock sensor is wired with shielded wire from the factory. i know that many people dont use it when they wire their cars, but i've heard of a few people who do have problems when not using shielded wire

does the sheilded wire make a difference even if i have the sensor wired up from the tower harness instead of directly from the sensor?
