Default Header Wrap -JDM ITR manifold

Anyone wrap their JDM ITR header?
kinda seems hard with the heatshield brackets.
Im asking because now that I took my AC condenser off it seems like the air will cool the header down.
Thanks

I think the only thing to worry about with header wrap is that it can speed up the rusting and corrosion process. Otherwise anything to keep the engine bay cooler is a good thing IMO. There is also a theory that it keeps the air that flows through the header and out the exhaust at a higher temp, which makes for better flow because the air is lighter and can exit faster. Dont know how true that is though.

DON'T DO IT!!! I wrapped my JDM header when I put it on the car just over a year ago. The header looks like it's been on the car since 1974. I noticed some of the hose clamps holding the wrap on were broken. I took them off and then decided to pull the wrap when I saw some corrosion. Chunks of metal/corrosion came off with the wrap. The header is also cracked in at least one place (BAD exhaust leak), but I haven't had the time to determine exactly where. The wrap will keep moisture against the metal and greatly speed up the corrosion process. If you want to keep heat in, get the header coated at JetHot, HPCoatings, or other quality coating company.

the JDM header is very corrosive, so unless you get it coated then I personally wouldnt do it.

I was afraid of this.
I knew wrapping the header with brackets on the manifold would be tricky.
I don't want to leave open exposure that may lead it to crack in the future.
Anyone with any luck with spraying it down wiht something?
This work well on the JDM-ITR?

why not just get the OEM heat shields? no worries about corrosion, and you still keep the engine bay cool. Plust you get that nice, stock look...

Why are you so set on wrapping/coating it? It works great as is. You will see only minor if any gains in power.

I have seen shivers header first hand and it is BAD. Repairable is even still up in the air.

Yeah maybe I'll just keep it as is...
But to somehwat defend my first statement.
I think everything is 'minimal gains' - you know?
