Default Header wrap question.

I have a JDM ITR header on my car with no heat shield.I'm wanting to do something to get some of the heat out of the engine compartment.I was looking into using header wrap made by Thermotec until I came across this"all header wraps contribute to shorter header life due to the intense heat within the wrap"I saw this in my Pegasus catalog.Has anyone had any bad experiences on their car using this stuff? If so I would like to know what, or does anyone know of another way to go about this.

The life of your header will be shorter but I wouldn't worry about it. They are talking about years and years......Otherwise, go with heat sheild.

My friend's wrapped header cracked awhile ago. I don't know if it was the cause of the wrap but I have hearded that it will cause it to crack.

I'm getting my JDM ITR header jet-hot coated.. next time we meet @ an autox you can look at it.. I'd say jet hot coating it is worth it, specially in my case since it's not on the car

Ceramic coating is better for a number of reasons.

1. lower under hood temps
2. extended header life (less rust)
3. better flow due to the ID of the tubing being smoother

Wrap will retain water (when car is not running) which accelerates the rust process, plus it allows more heat in the tube material instead of the exhaust.

Fast94GSR, I hope you didn't wrap that header.
