cut down on tourqe steer dramatically, and will give better launches. and people say its better round turns, but i never noticed a difference, but im sure to people who are serious into autocross and all can tell.
The differential has three jobs:
-To aim the engine power at the wheels
-To act as the final gear reduction in the vehicle, slowing the rotational speed of the transmission one final time before it hits the wheels
-To transmit the power to the wheels while allowing them to rotate at different speeds

sure will...see job #1.

how can we tell, you did not say what power you have how much your car weighs and what type of tires you have (along with many other things)...
Don't bother telling me, I couldn't tell you if you if stated every detail. Just to your local strip and do some runs...

well i was trying to get so help but, my last run was 14.8 with open header and all stock gsr on a 96 hb with street tires!! but i guess open header didn't help cuzz the car was slower why?
so i was thinking with my itr lsd, good clutch and sone slicks what should i run??
by the way whats an all stock itr runs on a 1/4 mile??

faster.. There is no definate answer, until you run it yourself. Although the Drag Racing Forum could give you a better answer.
assuming your 60ft was less than average, that is where the LSD and slicks would really help.

this is weird.. but when i had my 12 sec b20 motor, i had a quiafe installed in there.
When I tried to do a burnout with my slicks, i couldnt. It was really hard, and when looking at my video, only 1 wheel was spinning and the other.. kind spinning.
Why is this? was my quaife defective?

spinning is not neccessarily a good thing.. it indicates a lack of traction.
Also you were using slicks, to maximize traction so wheelspin should have been minimized.
LSD's are not neccessarily perfect either. They do not transfer power *perfectly* nor do they do so @each millisecond. They just do a far better job.
w/out the quiafe, most likely one wheel would have been spinning @nearly twice the rate of the other.
The fact you were seeing both spinning at all is a good indication it was working.

then to some degree.. locking your differential so that you're forcing 50-50 on both wheel would actually be more beneficial in drag racing than LSD?? so actually, having a phantom grip would actually be better in drag racing (if it doesnt break) than a normal LSD.
