Coolant leak, can't figure out why..HELP!!
Man, one problem after another.Just fixed the sealing bolt on the solenoid, now I have a coolant leak and the motor is overheating. It's coming out where the radiator hose goes into the block. The hose is fine and tried another clamp. Still pours out from the housing..I don't see any cracks. New thermostat was installed a couple months ago.I don't see any leaks underneath. What could be going on??
The weird thing is, I turned on the AC to lubricate the seals for like 4 minutes and within 5 minutes after I turned it on, this problem started. Coincidence, ????...I've tried moving the temp lever, same result. I'm also not getting any heat, I'm assuming because coolant isn't going through the system..Is the water pump belt driven?
Thanks for help...

Which hose is the leak at? Upper or lower? I'm assuming the lower, since you're speaking of the thermostat as well.
Anyway, did you make sure the thermostat was seated correctly with that little black seal? When I put the housing back on, I also put some Honda gasket sealant around it for good measure.
If it's leaking around the housing area, that's the only thing it can probably be....unless there is a crack, which is pretty doubtful. That doesn't usually happen there.
The water pump isn't belt driven, it's driven by the crank....which umm, I guess then it is, right?
Anyway, if you're not getting heat, it probably is your thermostat. Check it again. When you install it, you have to install it so that the little piece of metal on it is pointing in the right direction.

First thing, after you change the thermostat did you have heat? Did it start overheating just afterwards? If so you probably have an air lock in the system. I had an air block in my heater hoses after I replaced my waterpump. I installed a flushing tee into the uppermost heater hose, just below the intake tube and got the air out... instant heat.
With regards to the leak... get a cooling system pressure tester from Autozone or somewhere. They usually rent them out for free. Pressurize the system and you easily be able to tell where the coolant is leaking from.

Are you guys sure the water pump is turned by the crank..I wouln't think so, otherwise the waterpump wouldn't work unless you were moving..Maybe I'm wrong....
I see it coming from the hose that goes from the radiator to the block (top hose)..Leaking from the block end. The radiator doesn't get hot, telling me the thermostat is stuck closed and bad..I just got a new radiator a while ago and the a new water pump..The theromostat is new as well, but maybe it just failed..Any other thoughts?

I didn't install any of these parts myself. The thermostat and everything else have been working fine for a couple of months. I have been using my heat regularly and had no coolant leaks until last night...I'm going to do a couple checks today...Hopefully I can figure it out..How hard is it to change the thermostat?

UPDATE: Thought it was the thermostat...Installed a new one, and a new top hose...Well, still was leaking...By looking very closely, it was coming from the hose right underneath the hose that goes into the head...It a had a big hole in it...ERRR..Oh well, now I know how to change my thermostat. Oh course I went to the Acura dealer that's open til 2am and they don't have it...Do you guys think I can take meausrements of that hose and get the and have it cut at Advance Auto Parts? I know they have alot of different size hose that they can cut for you...I put a bunch of hondabond on the hole tonight, since duct tape didn't do the trick.....
Thanks for your guys help...So much nicer to fix problems yourself then pay a bunch of money for something simple..
