Yesterday night as I was coming back from school the check engine light came on and there was a significant loss in power...... smoke started coming out the tailpipe.... It made it home limping and I haven't messed with it today.... from what I saw there are no oil leaks and the engine bay looks normal.... there is an intense smell of burned oil and idling is fluctuating and when it revs in the higher range it makes a LOT of noise..... what can the problem be??
any help in this matter will be appreciated....

by the way my car is a stock '91 CRX Si with 162000 miles.....

cel-check engine light. Are you sure its oil? Maybe its antifreeze leaking past the headgasket. If the smoke is white and steamy, its antifreeze. If its blue and cloudy, its oil.

why would that help him fix his car? are you just really proud?

 

just found out.... the cel blinks 4 times.....

before the big incident the car felt sluggish in the lower rpm range..... even for d16 standards...........

going to find out what's wrong soon I hope
