"Dry start" after storage?
Hi,
My R has been in "storage" for the better part of the winter months now, and I'm itching to bring it out for a spin later this week (the forecast calls for a balmy 30-something degrees... lol)
My one concern is that with the oil sitting the bottom of the pan for so long, I don't want to imagine how dry my first crank will be...
I know there is alot of "storage" information to be found in search, however I find that most of it covers what to do before going into storage and not so much what to do to take it out of storage.
I was looking to roll it out in neutral and doing an oil change to get some fresh new oil through the "top-end" of the engine, but my biggest concern is what about the pistons and cylinder walls?
I've heard people recommend putting maybe a cap of oil down each sparkplug hole and letting it seep for a bit before starting things up... but I'm not so sure about that as much as it seems to make some sense...
I wanted to see what you guys do to prep for coming out of storage... (yeah it is a bit early it being mid-Feb now... but I'm itchin....
For all I know, I might not take it out yet, but I'd have to ask sooner or later...

It might be kinda rough on the first start, but I dont see it as being a problem as far as the cylinder walls and pistons are concerned. Mine was sitting for a few weeks outside in below 0 temps during that period, and it was a rough start, battery was nearly dead, but it turned over after a couple tries. runs great since. minus a broken axle.
