yup some clusters might not work right, like your gas or hot or cold might not work or sometimes the door or trunk signs won't turn on if its open.

Swap the guages out and put them in the original cluster. Very simple.

I think the 00' has immobilizer so there is that little green key light that you wont get with the 98'... but the cluster should work...

What you talking about shorting 2 batteries? I did that one mine and so did a ton of my other friends. Been going on with tons of usage without a problem.

Sorry about that...it just happened to be a crazy coincedence....

i disconnected my cluster, plugged up the battery and everything worked fine. so i turned off the car plugged up the cluster and no power so i waz like WTF???

then i replaced it with a new battery and the same scenario happened again so i'm thinking its the cluster that's y i put all the negativity (sorry i apologize)

so then again i replaced it with a new battery minus the cluster and everything worked so i waz like it has to be the cluster but.........

come to find out today i had really worn, rusted and coroaded i think thats how u spell it lol BATTERY TERMINALS
thats what made the weird noise and the battery spark but it works fine i retract me previos statement again SORRY
