HELP< CAR NOT WORKING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ok i went to go to the store in my car... it started and i drove and got to shift into 3rd gear and the whole car stopped.. nothing,,, lights and electrical working but the just like stopped working.. so i got pissd off and pushed it home and the next morning .. it wont start.. it cranks but it doesnt crank over to run... i have checked the battery which is what i thought maybe was the problem since the "new" battery i have is dead... so my new die hard battery is dead and my car wont start even when being jumped... or w/ another battery.. now my neg battery cable has some damage,, but i dont think thats it..
Does the engine turn over and just not fire up? ... What exactly is happeneing when you turn the key to try to start the car?
If you turn the ket and nothing is happening - no loud clicking noise or anything - then I would look into your main battery cables and make sure they aren't corroded at all. Then look into a new starter.
If it IS cranking, but just not starting then you need to check for the basics. Check and make sure your air supply is good, your ignition is healthy with a nice spark to each cylinder. and make sure that you are getting fuel. Make sure that when you turn the key that the "check engine" light comes on for about 3 seconds and turns off. During those 3 seconds you should be able to hear the fuel pump whirring and then stop. If that's not happening then you most likely need to check out your main relay.
The common faults are a bad main relay or a bad ignitor. You need to provide more info. (Bad ignitor will be part of the troubling shooting if you aren't getting a healthy spark from the ignition.)

I had a similar problem just today at the track. Turned out to be the screw that holds the rotor to the distributor shaft backed out and the rotor just spun loosely around. I would do what 4drEF suggested.
