Default VTEC Not Kicking

I had the 30,000 mile service on my R on Saturday and today was my first day of really driving it hard. I was disappointed that VTEC was no longer "kicking" as hard and as loud as it did before the service.. is it any slower? - I don't know.

Any ideas what would have done this?

Maybe they put the brake fluid in the engine. j/k

It could be the fact that they adjusted the valves and it's removing quieter. You can always call up the dealer and see which mechanic worked on your car... then ask the mechanic what he did to your car.

VTEC is engaging - although I can hardly notice it in 3rd gear...

is the outside temp a little bit hot?
I noticed that VTEC kicked in real strong when it is colder...
and just a 'so so' when it's hot....
but maybe it's only my feeling.. hehe..

Thats odd, it may be low oil pressure. That will definetly give your vtec a sluggish feeling. Make sure your oil pan drain plug and oil filter are on securely. You dont wanna be running with low oil pressure. If it is low, make sure you top it off.

BTW a quick little FYI. Honda motors are infamous for not notifying the driver about a low oil pressure condition. Everything from 86 accords to 00 ITR's suffer from the poor oil pump sending unit found in Honda cars. So in other words, dont wait for the oil light to come on, because then it will be too late!
