95 Accord auto transmission issue
My wife's 95 Accord (4cyl Auto) is doing some funny shifting. At low speeds, it revs when you step on the gas after coasting (at low speeds) then goes into gear. Does anyone know of any adjustment (tightening bands etc) that can be done or should I prepare for a tranny rebuild?
The car has 112K and the atf has been changed at 45K and 90K, each time it looked fine and still looks good.
did u get a tuneup lately?how bout spark plugs replaced? most honda's shift harsh like that that's one characteristics of our honda's...if u go to consumerguide.com it also says under ur car that with high mileage u need to put some additives in ur gas so it won't shift as harsh...
put saw dust in trans fluid... this wil tighten up the bands
i think............
then again..... what do i know....the other lot valet tech told me this works
oh by the way....is that a cvt trans? or is it vt-m4
coz.... the metric fluid requires oak saw dust

I replaced the timing belt, water pump and flushed the cooling system at 90K. I installed new plugs, wires , distributer cap and adjusted the valves around 100K.
I didn't mean it revs up in gear then hits to the next gear it will allow the engine to rev freely for a second then hit the next gear.
As for adding sawdust...I think I'll pass...maybe if I was trading it in...

How much crack have you all smoking?? Either there is a reading comprehension problem here, or you guys have the troubleshooting skills of a school girl.
Uc4me clearly has a problem with his transmission slipping, or something of that nature. What the hell does that have to do with the timing belt? What the hell is a tune-up going to do for him?
I think you guys have been sniffing too much saw dust!!

I think you should have been changing you transmission fluid every 30k. Look in your manual for service intervals. If i were you i would completely flush out the transmission to see if than helps. Maybe about 110 dollars at Honda dealership. Also, use ONLY honda fluid always.
i thought i was the only one with that problem...
i've changed the atf, but the problem resurfaces after 100 miles. although before then, the car runs pretty smooth (for an old honda automatic). now i'm about to change the fluid again and its only been half a year!!
i may have to try that solenoid plan.
just a question: does your dealer "drain and fill" the atf or use a machine to cycle new fluid in/old fluid out while the engine is running so that it can flush the torque converter when doing a tranny service????
mine just d&f. their explanation was that honda torque converters don't hold that much fluid...B.S.????

Complete flush won't hurt. To save money drain and fill two or three times. Do it yourself. It's easy. Don't forget to drive around a little between changes to circulate the fluid.
I had the exact same prob. It seems that the guy who changed the oil from the dealership knocked my shift cable or something loose. The car would rev really high at about 4 to 5 grand from a stop and then shift. I took it back to the dealer and re-attached or tightend the cable and the prob is gone but the car shifts a bit weird now.
i've been asking my car club about this problem (since it is hard to swing a bat without hitting someone whose family owns an accord...and i did hit someone).
one of the guys have an accord they been TRYING to kill (to buy another nissan project car) with 200K on the odo said they ran into this.
in his case, a tranny linkage was loose, which was adjusted and on its way...this was also done when it showed early signs of tranny slippage.
i'll try to pry more info on which linkage it was.
keep us posted on what happens.
