Default Want to try out Carlsbad raceway but I don't have a helmet ...

so my question is probably a stupid one. i was wondering if they offered helmet rentals like my local batting cages? i don't expect my car to run faster than 15's so i think buying a helmet would be a waste of money. i don't intend on pursuing a career in drag racing. i go occasionally to see how my car is doing. and when i go is usually to palmdale who doesn't require helmets for cars doing more than 13's but who also pushes out inflated 1/4 mile times .

LOL! Thats sad.

Atleast lay it down gently, to him. Rather than "Your slow, stfu, you don't need a helmet." lol

I don't think you need a helmet till 11's? 12's?

helmet is a must to run in any 1/4 mile track, don't matter how slow the car is. 99% of the time they will check for DOT approved Helmet. Carlsbad i don't think they check , but you must have a helmet to race. I live in carlsbad, if you want to borrow mine. it cool with me. i have a large head though

For Carlsbad Raceway, you MUST have a helmet, even if you go 18 seconds.
They don't check your helmets whether you have DOT/Snell/etc, as long as you have one on. I bought my pos helmet on ebay for $30.

Damn that sucks. At MIR, you don't need a helmet till 13.99's or faster and no cage till 11.49's or faster.

Different tracks have different rules. Generally it's 13.99 or faster requires a helmet. Fontana and Palmdale are like that. I got mine at a motorcycle shop for cheap

My local track doesn't require a helmet til 13.99 or faster but I have a extra helmet you can buy for $25 plus shipping. It's nothing special but it will work good enough.

um...i don't think you'll hit 15's with 125 whp. when i was running a bone stock b16, no header, intake, nothing...i ran a low 15 and i know the b16 had more than 125 whp. not trying to burst your bubble, just want you to be aware. it sucks when you expect to run a specific et and end up with something totally different. good luck to you!

naw bro. its all good. the reason i'm expecting to hit 15's is because at palmdale i ran a 16.4 unadjusted time. and i understand that at palmdale your anywhere from .5 to 1 whole second slower! so if i had adjusted my palmdale time it would have came out to about 15.9. so i wanted to see for myself byrunning my car at a track closer to sea level, not slightly uphill, not so slippery, and hopefully less winds.
