You shouldn't really notice a difference. I put 92 in once instead of 93 and never noticed anything. I usually buy Shell or Chevron and that's all 93 around here.

Where in WA are you from? I used to live in Factoria/Bellevue.

probobly is, I have an si and I have run it on 87 octane for two years now and it has ran without a hitch, and compression checks out fine too... not an ounce of power lost... but then again its a civic and I could care less. btw the car now has 94,000 miles on it, and is a 99 si coupe.

Now if it was an itr and had 20 extra hp to worry about and a higher compression then I would put the 91-92 octane in it... I would not be worried about your engines at all unless you are running some serious power boosting **** like toda b's or high compression pistons... if you have a stock blocked car and head then you have nothing to worry about.

Mind you people live thier life by the honda service manual and think that it is a sin to put anything less than race gas in a car that isnt so racy... no offense.

Not sure about Type-R's, and I have never read a "Type-R" owners manual (But I think it is the same as my GSR). Anyway, in my manual it says the lowest grade that you can go to is 91, so don't worry, you will be fine. And you won't notice any difference at all.

True, when it is cold in the morning, my car feels quicker than at mid day when I leave work to go pick up lunch. In other words, you will notice your car react more to the air temperature than a difference of "1" octane point.

that does it!! im moving to Canada!
O canada, o canada!!
Don't know if it's such a good idea! hehe... We have 94 here regularly available, but it's "enriched" with MTBE. Not such a good additive if you ask me. Seems like people in Canada are getting worse mileage than the US conterpart.

As for noticing 91-92, you won't notice one single thing. Even if you go 94 and don't raise compression keeping it stock, you still won't notice anything.
