To answer your question, anytime. People tend to say it gets better as the car warms up, but it shouldn't really matter. I get more a "crunch" than a grind and as of late my 5th is "sticking" and won't shift out very easy. I have an 03.

As for over rev guy, human error, not mechanical... it's like calling your computer stupid, it only does what you tell it to.

my 3rd gear is cursed. it sometimes doesn't want to let me drop it into 3rd while decellerating. now i noticed my clutch is making noise at idle in neutral with the pedal disengaged. i am gonna take it to the dealer and see if there is anything they can do about it. it is also making a noise and making it hard to go into gears intermittently.

I have probs with 1st thru 3rd gears every once in awhile too. It depends on my engine speed, how fast i'm going and how far i've got the clutch depressed. I get the 2nd gear kkrrr quite a bit, but i'm not worried about it yet...

We all know that there is a bulletin on the 2003 RSX models for gear grinding and synchro replacement...

I spoke with Acura/Honda tech-line the other day and low-and-behold.............
Honda has asked for three 2003 RSX-S transmission for a "tear down and analysis"
(they have them now also) So they have found there are problems with the synchros in the 03's wich are the parts that were being used to repair the 02's....

I'll keep the DC5/EP3 forum posted when more news come down the pipes

Since you own an DC5, I don't know if this will help much, but it seems a few EP3 owners had a second gear grinding/crunching problem as well. I'm not sure if they got Honda to put up a service bulletin for it, but a number of people were reporting the problem. HTH

Go top off your transmission oil, then see if it still does it.
