i have a b16a2 in my eg...i noticed lately that when my vtec engages at 5500 rpms my rpms starts jumping all crazy to redline and when i shift to second my tach does the same thing it its starts stuttering and jumps really fast to redline...anyone have any idea why that is?

 

loose connection somewhere...could be your gauge cluster...

 

could be your igniter or coil in your dist. check those also!

I agree, very common for the ignitor to go out.

 

is it just the guage or do you feel the car doing it??
