Default Best Handling Civic... Your suspension setup ?

Just wondering if anyone has upgraded their civic's suspension and then tested it with a G meter... like they do for popular magazines. I mean with all the suspension mods they sell... how well can you make a civic handle ? Can you make it equivalent to a stock R's performance, or better ?

Also, list your mods as far as suspension (tires included).

I myself don't have much:

92 hatch-
JUN coilovers (front)
4 way adj. KYB AGX (front)
Ground Control Coilovers (rear)
Tokico Blues (rear)
Front strut tower brace
Falken 512's on 14" honda alloys

More to come in the future, but currently, the car doesn't handle exceptionally by any means.

i think you problem is that your mixing too many different things
different springs, different shocks

i'd get gc front and agx rear, and you'd be much better off
how much drop are you on?

I'm sure a race-prepped Civic could easily break 1.0 G on the skidpad.

So to answer your question, yes these cars can easily outhandle R's (with the right setup).

High end coil-overs, rear sway/tie, wheels/tires should be a great start.

It takes very little for a hatch to match an ITR's handling capabilities and a little more to better it.

There's many threads about suspension setups going on....but I'm bored at work ...Sears is paying me well

Front:
GSR sway
Neuspeed front upper
450 lbs springs (soon to be swapped for 400)
KYB Agx on level 3 damper
custom top hats

Rear:
GSR rear sway
Benen upper bar
GSR LCA's
EK Koni Yellows
2 inch extended top hats
500 lbs springs

Autopower 4 point race bar
Miata alloys on 205-55-14 Victoracers
Konig Heliums with Azenis

Oh, and right now for the daily....Firestone Firehawks 185-60-14 with about 20% tread left ...car still feels VERY solid and hasn't pushed at all on these tires....just waiting for new tires to come in for the Heliums

that means nothing.

And "high end coilovers". Whats that supposed to mean. I have about as much into ALL of my suspension and roll bar AND seat, as some people have into just their coilovers....and my car will outhandle their fubbered rates anyday

I am not dropped much... maybe an inch. Right now my rear coilover is a bit lower than the front (which I will adjust soon), but I know my suspension is off... just wanted input for setups that people actually run, not the pipe dreams some people usually talk about, but functioning, real world setups.

(I know my mismatched setup is sheety, but I'm working on it...) In my car's defense, I am near stock camber and running good tires, so it holds the road fine.

In riding in cars with tokicos vs my old AGX setup on my teg... I've noticed that tokico blues non adj are about equivalent to somewhere between the 2 and 3 settings on the KYBs. (maybe that's just me, but that's what it feels like... the blues are pretty stiff)

All I have is Skunk2 coilovers and tokico blues and I love the handling of my car. I'm sure with a nice strut/tie bar combo it would be even better. Oh yeh, I also have Yokohama AVE ES 100's so those help aton.

Going from a lifted jeep to a lowered civic....I feel like a race car driver everyday!

Not a civic, I have an integra

15x7 wheels wrapped with falken azenis
KYB AGX
Neuspeed Sports
ITR front sway
ITR rear sway
DIY trunk brace
4pt autopower rollbar
skunk2 front strut tower brace

new setup will replace the spring/shock with Buddy Club racing spec coilovers
add a DIY rear tie bar
replace skunk2 front strut bar with ITR
add OMP rear strut tower bar
possibly add C pillar bar

my old set up rode and handled great, i just felt , my car was a little too low for the roads around me, and springs were a little too soft

huge difference
it really connects the front and rear of the car
i noticed it right away when i drove over some wavy roads. that my car chassis didn't want to twist as much

its doesn't make the ride rough
really high spring rates is what makes it a stiff ride

Well I am referring to uneven roads.... lots of cracks, basically a road in need of repair... would it ride differently, more harsh ?

Would this upgrade alone be worth it ? Is it welded in ?

Ground Controls 425F 550R. With Koni Yellows out handles a lot of set ups and is good for autocross. I really dislike the KYB AGX's.

do some searching on google there are a few places that sell um. they are bolt in cages. doesn't mean you can't weld um in but i wouldn't cause they don't fit the car snugglly
