i'm experiencing some detonation so i was thinking it could be carbon buildup on my pistons. is the atf trick really effective? wont it cause my 02 sensor to crap out? also how do you get the atf into the manifold?
For whats its worth, The dealer where I work has something called a B.G. Fuel Induction Cleaning service...Not to be confused with injector cleaning either. Its a system thats runs the cleaner/fuel in through the fuel line by way of taking it off the filter exit and tapping into it there...And using a canister with compressed air to act as fuel pressure....It works really well, the engine is allowed to run untill it stalls out...Then the fuel line is reattached to the filter and some cleaner is used on the butterfly valve and down the intake tracts...
It really blows some crap out the mufler when they are done....the service is about 117.00...at our dealer.

stock b18c typr r with b16b camshafts, i only hear the detonation when i get on the gas. the atf trick seems worth a try, only im afraid it might damage the 02 sensor and the cat.
Honda makes a cleaner used to clean out carbon deposits. It's called Top End Cleaner and you can get it at most Honda dealers. I don't have the part number off the top of my head.

Hey I wouldnt suggest using the atf in a fuel injected vehicle, all though if you do, just let car idle and take off a vaccum hose and put some in there.
And for the BG fuel system cleaner, I have never used it myself but I have heard good and bad about the outcome of its use, mainly being because most of their products are heavy duty.
