Default Reverse Mini-Me

Search couldn't find anything.

I'm going to put a D15B7 head on a D16Y8 block.

The oil orifice that is in the B7 block is not present in the Y8 block. Is it the same size? I know you pull it out of the non-vtec block to put the vtec head on it.

Who's done this reverse mini-me already?

Why the D15 head?
It already has a mild port and polish and a camshaft installed in it.
We don't feel like buying a VTEC ECU and wiring in VTEC.
Keeping it simple.

Why the Y8 block?
It's a stronger stock bottom end than the B7 block.
It's a low mileage block we have sitting around.

So basically we will be running the same motor setup as last year but with a stronger bottom end. Any info on this matter would be helpful.

I think your compression will be quite low.... 8.X:1....

Otherwise I see no problems....

The only problem is the oil control jet - the B2 head needs it. The Y8 block should have a hole for it, but I don't know if the B2/A6 control jet will fit. If you can put one in there, then you're set.

I looked at the set up on the compression calculator and it's showing a 8.7:1 compression. But if you add a set of ZC pistons it bumps you to a 11.4:1. just an idea. Here you can play around w/ the calculator yourself- http://www.knology.net/~jediklc/D.htm

Yeah, I already did the compression calculator. Compression ratio's gonna be in the low 8s. Around 8.1 to 1.

Going with a 2mm head gasket. We're building the motor for turbo.

Our last setup got us down to a 13.1@103. Stock D15B7 block with Cometic head gasket and studs. The 13.1 was run with one cylinder at 120 compression, the rest at 200.

I'm hoping this block will get us in the low 12s. Plus some 22x8x13 inch slicks.

My only concern now is that oil orifice, to see if it fits or not. It's a $7 part.
