Boost gauges Vacuum reading is 15 instead of 20. right or wrong?
My boost gauges is 15 on the vacuum side, wonder if there is not enough. Because others read about 20. Help please.
yeah mine is reading the same and I have a leak between the manifold and the turbo. My bolts came loose. I have to fix them I think that might be my problem.

actually, timing of the ignition, cams, and day'le humidity can play a big role in what you will read on the vac Gage. I've seen mine fluctuate from -10 to -20 in one tuning session. check for more than vac leaks. and also, all engines are different, if one happens to flow\seal better than another, it will usually have a higher reading.
na, that wouldnt do it, but fix it soon. i had one and it tore through my gasket in 2 days. ya it sucks up here, even modded cars are slow, we loose something like one half, to one second on our e.t.'s compared to sea leval.

check all your piping. One of your couplings could have a small hole in it. Check one pipe, they see if the vac goes up, check another, and another until you check them all or isolate and fix the problem.
Definitely sounds like a vac leak somewhere. Check your gauges too. Intake mani gasket, throttle body gasket just in case.

funny thing is, i've had a pipe completely fall off before, and at idle i would still read 20! i believe its more likely that the hoses connected directly to the boost gauge (aaka bov, engine vacuum lines and wategate) are the issue to look at first
When my car is cold, I make like 15 in/hg vacuum. When It warms up, it makes like 18-20", and in gear when off the pedal (winding down) it will make from -22 to -24". AC on it drops back to -15 at idle. This equates to -545 on the afc at idle, and -615 when off the gas and decelerating in gear, approx. I don't know how good of shape my boosted stock D is in, but that's how it is. Hope this helps.
