GS-R Vtec swap into a LS
been asking questions and stuff on this topic the past few weeks, i finally have the V-tec on a stand and i'm going to be building it, i have a 1991 teg LS b18a non v-tec and i'm going to be droping the 99 GS-R b18c1 V-Tec into it, i poster earlier about the ECU i'm going to need i do plan on adding aftermarket int./ex. and changing my flywheel and clutch right away, most likely while i'm doing the swap, i called around to a few place and the told me to get a OBD0 PR3 ECU for the swap, i need advice, this is my first big mod to my car, any advice would be great
have fun getting a bar tag for that swap. jumping from OBD0 to OBD2 isn't easy to pass. if you want it to be legal in CA, get the ECU for that year engine. in any case you'll love your new found engine and wonder how you ever lived without vtec.
thats the thing, i don't have an ECU yet, i have the LS stock ECU and the ECU out of the 99 GS-R also stock, sorry i really don't know much about the ECUs right now, going to the local shop here and ask a bunch of questions just trying to get some info from you all before then
oh i see, yo don't want to rewire for the 99 ECU you have.
let me ask you this, do you want ot be able to smog this car? i ask this since i see from your profile you're in CA just like me and we have some messed up smog laws (damn hippies). if you do want this to be smoggable (is that even a word?), you should go talk to your local smog ref about all the emission equipment you need so you can get a bar tag and have a legitimate smoggable swap. it may delay your swap and cost more but it will save a whole bunch of headaches in the future, especially from CHP. good luck!

91 Integra, is that not OBD-1? If so could you not just use an OBD-1 ECU, and use OBD-1 injectors and distributor on the engine? Seems like that might be easier.
*edit* n/m 91 Integra is OBD0, but if you go here https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=761953 you will see an OBD0 to OBD1 conversion harness, so you could run that along w/ an OBD1 P72, or a chipped P28 (if you want to replace the dual runner intake manifold w/ a Skunk2 manifold, and it would be a great time to do it now while the engine is on a stand).
Another issue is the transmission, do you have a way of operating the hydraulic clutch with your cable clutch pedal? Do you have a conversion kit or anything like one from HASport?

ok i just got back from a shop here, they were saying that i'm gonig to have to re-wire the whole motor. anyone have a few links or place i can get good solid info on this topic, or the whole swap for that matter i know i have to get the ECU, new clutch and lightened flywheel, going to be using catblack exgauhst they said i should try to find a OBD0 PR3 P28 for the Vtec.
any links or books would be great or hell if anyone is in the riverside area and wants to school a newb that would be cool too

The easist way to put a 99 gsr motor into your 91 is to reuse your OBD0 stuff. Use a first generation B16a PR3 obd0 ecu or the PWO. FOr the distributor look for a first generation b16a vtec distributor, or you can use the LS one and chop off one of the legs for it to fit on the vtec head. Also use the OBD0 injectors. There is also the choice of converting to obd1 which may be considered.
Because the 99gsr engine will use the hydrolic transmission you will most likely want to reuse your 90-91 LS transmission with your 90-91 integra clutch. You could also look for a s1,j1,y1 or ys1 vtec cable tranny to take advantage of the shorter gears, but they are very rare and expensive.
good luck.

ok that was something i was wondering about, both motors i have are b18s, so i can use a b16 ECU? cause i have found a few of them so far, sorry for all the questions at once, just planed on using my tax return for this swap so i want to get the info i need to get the parts before i get my return
