99 Si question
As i'm sure you all inferred, my name is Shane and i drive a 99 Si.
I was pretty much set on a small turbo setup or maybe jrsc for sublte power gains, as speed isn't my #1 priority. But recently, something happened. One of my "wealthier" friends calls me up and tells me he has a block for sale.
The plot thickens.
I drive over to his house and see an LS block... well what was an LS block. The block had been sleeved and honed, compression was raised to 11.5 with JE forged pistons, and eagle rods were connecting those pistons to the knifedged crank.
I am seriously considereing buying this block (for $1,100) from him, and then purchasing a new valvetrain for my head over the next few months. Then putting it all together in about half a year. The money is here, its consistant and constant, no question there.
This seems to save me some money in the future, and i'm almost fully aware of the small fight of putting my head onto the block.
My good friend works at the Stanford research facility, i have access to an entire machining shop, cnc machines, you name it. My buddy is qualified to work with all of the cool **** in there, so he can help me with some things if i need.
So what do yo uthink of the price of the block, the 1000-1300 i'll spend on stuff for my head, netting me about 2600 (add in an extra 300 for worst case senario) and i'm stull around a Greddy kit.
Any thoughts?
Thanks for your time
