Default mandrell bent or not.

ok after i got my 88 crx hf swaped with a b16a the stock exhaust did not meet with the b16a header so i took my car to my local muffler shop to have my tanabe universal exhaust install. i also decided to put a carsound high flow cat in.. i didnt know how big the piping should be so i told the shop to just put in 2 1/4 pipes. now the pipes that they put in wasnt mandrelbent and omg!! there were so many bending involved. now how much hp did i lost due to this.. also was 2 1/4 bad or that should be fine. cause ive read that 2 1/2 is better less restrictive..

You probably didn't lose a noticable amount of hp (1hp maybe at most) because it is still a basically stock motor. Once the motor is pushing a lot of hp, small things like this will be a bigger factor.

most local exhaust shops use crush bends. when you want a mandrel bent exhaust you usually have to buy all the seperate bends yourself and then have them weld it in. at least thats my experience with that.

i use a 2 1/4 inch system on my b16 crx. a 2 1/2 will flow better and allow more air to pass at higher RPMs giving more hp up top. the smaller exhaust system will allow more hp down low. at least thats what i've been told.

do a search under exhaust sizes in the archive.
"Your search for exhaust size returned 122 results."

you'll find all the info there.

well i was also thinking about that. find all the bend i need thats already mandrel bent and then just tell them to cut and weld the piece i want them to put in.

oh by the way. i dont have a resenator on my car. and that thing is hella loud.. specialy in the freeway. should i put a resenator in my exhaust?

It sounds like you already know the answer to that question.
