Default Speedo / Odometer Not Working

Ok, about a year ago my speedo started crapping out on me after the car had sat in my driveway for a few months (rebuilt motor and performed a swap).
It worked intermidanttly for a while, and then stopped functioning completely. I changed out the VSS with a BRAND NEW ONE, but this still didn't fix the problem. The wires seem to look fine, the connector has some corossion, but nothing serious. I have tried cleaning it with some sandpaper on the end of a qtip stick but it still haven't fixed it. Is the actual cluster the only other place left to check?

Car is a 93 delSol with approx 120k miles.

Thanks!

Maybe you need a new speedo. Swap in a friends speedo or cluster and see if that cures your problem. I had the same thing on my 97 DX. Car has over 130k on it.

Mine did it. I went with a JDm EG6 cluster...works like a charm. A brand new speedo is 200 bux. Or you can swap one out from a DX or CX cluster from a junkyard.

the soddering(sp?) in the speedo went bad.. same thing happened to my car. it's NOT the VSS. it's the cluster. either open it up and re-sodder everything, or get a new cluster. walla! problem solved!
