Default B18b head on b20b block ????

well first off, let me tell you what i have, i have a 94 civic EX .. and i dont want to be like everybody else with vtec motor's .. i like to be different .. thats kinda why i bought Apex-i N1 exhaust .. nobody has it around here .. but anyway .. yea i wanted to do an LS motor because of the low compression and the amount of torque it has over the b16a but then i thought yea i'd pull on them low end .. but ill still get my *** beat buy gsr's .. so then i thought since i still dont want vtec .. i figure i'd be able to chill with gsr's better if i had more torque so i thought of buying a b20b ( crv ) block to slap under the b18b head .. and i dont want to do the full b20 swap because of the fact it has 126hp .. oh and i dont want the vtec engine's because i plan to turbo later on .. so i figure why not start with an engine with low compression already ya kno .. please help me with this .. thanks

He said he doesn't want to go VTEC. If i'm not mistaken isn't the b18b and the b20 head the samething?

Popular, yes, what he's asking about, not even a little bit. Did you actually read his post before you replied? He asked about a non-VTEC b18b head on a non-VTEC b20a/z block.

To the original poster: this combination will get you nothing but a more midrange-happy set of cams and better intake manifold. You'll gain maybe 7hp. Just do the B20Z and turbo that.

apexi n1 exhaust is the most popular exhaust by the way

and i dont see the point of putting a b18b head on b20 block.... both heads im sure are close to the same ...

b18b head = b20b head. both are p75 castings. try finding a b20z. 140 hp, high compression b20 motor. there really is no point of staying low comp, unless you dont want to buy 91 octane gas, or you're gonna boost soon.

Exactly. The only difference is the cams and the intake manifold. Higher compression gets a from me.

B20a is an older Prelude motor, which you don't want.Like it was said before the B20Z is the best bet for what your looking for.good luck

There is nothing wrong with a high compression B20B

B20Z's are often very expensive, a late model 99-00 JDM B20B is the same as a USDM B20Z
