Default Misfire

I was running my car at the track and I got a CEL light. The light indicated cyl 3 misfired. I was squeezing 65 shots at the time and I am wondering what could be the potential causes of the misfiring? When I reset the ECU, the CEL goes away and does not come back on.

Too big gap on spark plugs. Try 0.035.

I gapped the plugs at .030 just for nitrous.

Was that the first time you've gotten a CEL for Cyl. #3 misfire?

Btw, what did you run at the track?

This isn't my first time getting a CEL when squeezing. I was getting a CEL when I was running 75 shots and then backed it down to 65 shots. I didn't check the CEL when I was running 75 shots. I ran twice last night...my first run was 15.3@90mph and second one was 15.4@88 mph. My second run was when I got the misfire CEL.

try two degree colder plugs, and maybe higher octane fuel. I know some 5th gens have a problem with having misfires that never show up again, mine did and there was a factory recall for it.

Bah. Still low 15s. Man, Accords suck for power.

Did you run with your 18s on? Was the spare, and jack still in the car?

Also, how's the car feel with that LT torque converter? How much did that you run you if you don't mind me asking?

I was running with 18s but without the spare and jack. I have to run with the 18s because I need tires that grip. I lose traction even with 65 shots and I lost even more traction with 75 shots even on Yoko Pradas. If I was running lighter wheels, stickier tires, 75 shots, without my amps and my backseats, I will be able to run better times.

The LT TQ converter costed me around 700 for the rebuild and the part.

The part number for the spark plugs are BKR7E11 if I can remember right. From what many have told me, if you have an ignition amplifier, you are able to widen the gap slightly.

I say do a compression check. See what the numbers turn out to be.

Your octane, and colder plugs should keep everything fine. Don't see why you got that CEL.

I will be doing a compression check soon to see whats going on with the motor. I will look at my ignition and fuel system to find the problem.

Arent those plug numbers for a civic? I have two degree colder plugs and they are ZFR7F-11 and the plug numbers for the F23 are the same.

I am not exactly sure what the model numbers of the plugs are. I always get the ZFR's and the BKR's mixed up.

a miss could be causes by a lot of things a dead or weak injector, fouled plug a bad wire a bad valve. I would start by checking for spark and injector pulse if it has spark and the injector is firing check compression
